This book was so good that I read it in two days! It's so suspenseful and I kept trying to figure it all out but you would never guess what acctually happens. It's about this boy named Thomas, the book starts out with Thomas in a lift and he only knows one thing, "My name is Thomas." Thats it nothing about how he got in the lift, or who his parents are, nothing. It's like his memories have been swept out. The lift brings him up and he is surrounded by other boys around his age. They tell him that he is in the Glade, a large expanse of land surrounded by four walls. Here, the Gladers tell him, they are safe from the horrors that are outside the Glade, protected by the stone walls that move every night to close them in. They are in the middle of the maze, there is no way out that they have found yet, but they keep trying. Every thirty days a new boy is sent up with no memory of anything, none of the other boys have ever remembered anything about their old lives. Every thirty days at the same time, like clockwork, so when a girl is sent up after Thomas the next day, everyone is freaked out. Even more freaked out by the message she has with her. All the Gladers think that somewhere out in the maze is a way out, a way back to their families, and since the girl showed up, Thomas thinks he can find the answers. But only if he can unlock the secrets of his memories.
There is a sequel to the book called the scorch trials and I can't wait to read it. This book rivals the Hunger Games in a Postapocalypitic future and suspense. If you liked the Hunger Games then you will LOVE the Maze Runner!!!
